Fabric and Technology
Staying true to our desire to marry form and function, we scoured the globe to source high-performance yarns with sustainable backgrounds, then wove, knit and craft these yarns into a range of performance fabrics to develop a capsule collection of stunning, highly functional running, gym and compression styles.
And once again, we support risk-takers and celebrate their tenacity with an inspiring line-up of sports apparel collections.
Recycling Interlock
Recycled nylon interlock double knit fabric is a sustainable fiber that offers both aesthetic and functional benefits. The fabric is designed to contour and flatter the body with just the right amount of compression with graduated strength. A "buttery soft" finish enhances the fabric's luxurious feel, making it ideal for activewear, athleisure and other apparel items.
One of the key features of this fabric is that it is made using pre-consumer recycled nylon, which is nylon made from waste materials such as used fishing nets, carpet fluff and fabric scraps. This fabric reduces waste in landfills and reduces the environmental impact of textile production.
What's more, the fabric is made from 70% recycled nylon, a significant amount considering most nylon fabrics are made from virgin materials. Recycled nylon requires less water, energy and fossil fuels to produce than virgin nylon, making it a more sustainable option.
Compression Fabric - Black Lycra
SA1NT compression garments are designed to support muscles during physical activity, reduce muscle vibration (vibration) and fatigue while promoting blood flow, reducing the risk of injury, and for post-activity recovery. The garments are made from an advanced circular knit fabric that provides excellent compression and shape recovery, allowing the garment to maintain its compression properties even after repeated use and washing.
The dope dyeing process used in production allows the color to penetrate to the core of the fibers of the dope dyed yarn, resulting in long-lasting color that will not fade or transfer.
Additionally, the antibacterial technology used in this garment helps keep the wearer feeling fresh and clean during and after intense exercise.
Repreve® Recycling Process
Repreve® is a brand of special recycled polyester fiber manufactured by Unifil using used PET bottles as raw material. The manufacturing process for Repreve® uses less energy and water and reduces emissions by 32% compared to traditional polyester production.
Additionally, Repreve® fiber is versatile and can be used in a variety of applications including apparel, furniture upholstery, automotive interiors, etc. Its double knit construction with hexagonal mesh moves sweat away from the skin and disperses moisture at the surface, making it an ideal fabric for activewear and sportswear.
Glossary
polymer:
Polymers are large molecules made up of repeating units called monomers. They can be natural or synthetic and are widely used in our daily lives, from plastics and fibers to adhesives and coatings. Examples of natural polymers include DNA, proteins, and cellulose, while examples of synthetic polymers include PVC, nylon, and polystyrene.
polymerization:
Polymerization is the process of chemically linking monomers to form a polymer chain. There are two main types of polymerization: addition polymerization and condensation polymerization. In addition polymerization, monomers are added one at a time to a growing chain, while in condensation polymerization, two different monomers react to produce small molecules such as water as a by-product. By using different polymerization techniques, it is possible to produce different types of polymers with specific properties.
Circular knit:
Circular knitting is a method of knitting fabric in a continuous circular or tubular shape. It is typically used to make t-shirts, socks and seamless garments. Circular knitting machines use a set of needles arranged in a circle, which rotate to knit the fabric. This process produces durable garments with minimal waste and can be done quickly and efficiently.
Interlock:
Interlock fabric, also known as double knit fabric, is a type of weft knit fabric made using two rows of needles. This makes the fabric thicker and more stable than single jersey fabric. Interlock fabrics are often used in sportswear because of their excellent stretch and recovery, and are also widely used in underwear and loungewear.
Repreve®:
Repreve® is a brand of recycled performance fibre made from recycled plastic bottles.
Used to create sustainable textiles with properties such as moisture wicking, odor wicking and water resistance, Repreve® is popular with brands looking to develop environmentally conscious products and is used in a wide range of products from sportswear and swimwear to luggage and car interiors.
